Abstract:
This hook-type molded surface fastener comprises a substrate and numerous hook-type engagement elements that protrude from a surface of the substrate, the substrate and the hook-type engagement elements both being made from a resin mixture with polybutylene succinate (A) in a continuous phase and a starch (B) in a dispersed phase. The fastener simultaneously satisfies the following conditions (1)-(3): (1) the dispersed phase includes polyvinyl alcohol (C); (2) the starch (B) includes a modified starch and the amylose content of the starch (B) is at least 45% by weight; and (3) the hook-type engagement elements become narrower from the substrate surface to tip sections, gradually beginning to curve partway along, and the tip sections are shaped so as to face in a direction slightly approaching the substrate surface. The fastener can be manufactured without the hook-type engagement elements being broken during pultrusion molding, and when disposed, breaks down in the natural environment and does not cause environmental destruction.
