Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a novel biometric authentication code obtained by converting a feature of a biological portion of an individual into a symbol. [Solution] In the present invention, a feature point extraction unit 4 extracts a plurality of feature points, on the basis of a biological portion of an individual to be authenticated, or on the basis of a captured image capturing an article in which a feature of the biological portion has been converted to a symbol. The feature points are present around a central biological portion which provides a positional reference, and indicate a biological feature unique to the individual. A code generation unit 5 generates a ring-shaped code as a biometric authentication code. The ring-shaped code defines the distance in the diameter direction and the rotation angle based on the central biological site for each of the plurality of extracted feature points. By making the biometric authentication code an endless ring shape, the relative positional relationship of a plurality of dots P (feature points) is maintained even if the ring-shaped code is rotated in the circumferential direction. The foregoing is advantageous in increasing robustness with respect to a shift in the circumferential direction of the ring-shaped code.
