Description:
BONE CUTTING DEVICE

Description

The present invention relates to a new cutting device intended to cut bones, which is extremely robust, reliable and safe, easy to be managed and to be used. Generally, at the state of the art there are known bone cutting machine ' tools, intended to cut meat or fish,- fresh or frozen, or bones. Such devices provide the use of great blades, usually of band type, fixed on a horizontal plane, on which the piece of meat to be cut is positioned and pushed by means of a "meat pushing" tool. Anyway, the known bone cutting machines have many drawbacks both technical and relating the user safety. A first drawback is represented by the use of the fixed blade of band type, which is very dangerous for the user and which allowing cuts only in a direction, forces the user to carry out little safe movements to remove the piece on which he is working. Moreover, the use of this kind of blade makes the device little versatile and limits its use considerably since it can be used only for some specific cuts. Therefore the user has to equip oneself with smaller and easier to handle devices to carry out smaller , cuts · and in .directions other than the one obliged by the fixed blade. In addition, the protections commonly used in the devices of traditional type are not comfortable for the user and are usually the cause of serious accidents.

Therefore, aim of the present invention is to solve the disadvantages of the known bone cutting devices .

The aim is solved by means of a new bone cutting device able to protect the operator from many kinds of accidents due to the use of the currently available machines and also able to carry out, by means of predetermined movements, cuts in different positions so that it is obtained a smaller and easy to handle final product, and able to carry out all the cutting operations without using other tools. Another advantage of the present invention is the possibility to carry out cuts on pieces of any dimension and shape. Finally, one last advantage is the possibility, for the operator, to work in a faster, besides safe, way, and so to optimize the time available.

These and other advantages will be better highlighted in the detailed description of the invention which refers specifically to drawings 1 to 4, figures 1 to 7, which show a not limiting preferred embodiment of the present invention. In particular :

Fig. 1 shows a plan view of the bone cutting device ;

Fig. 2 shows a side view of the bone cutting device ;

Fig. 3 shows a front view of the bone cutting device ;

Fig. 4 shows a detail of the bone cutting blade of the device in a front and side view;

Fig. 5 shows a side view of the two vices used for positioning the piece to be cut;

Fig. 6 shows a detail of the two vices according to a preferred embodiment of the invention;

Fig. 7 shows a second embodiment of the vice according to the invention.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the object of the present invention as shown in fig. 1 and fig. 2 is made up of a box (1) having in the rear portion an arm (2, 2 ' ) at whose end (2') it is introduced a cutting device (17) intended to cut the piece fixed by fixing means (7,

28) to the horizontal plane of the box (1) .

In addition, preferably in the front portion said box (1) is provided with a starting button (4) and in its structure with holes (23) positioned at regular distance to adjust the position on the plane of the box. of the fixing means (7, 28) of the piece to be cut. In the rear portion, at working plane level, it is finally provided with a bulkhead (6) which blocks the possible working residues thus avoiding their dispersion. Moreover, on the plane of the box there are provided guide lines (26) which indicate the limit stop useful for the user during the piece cutting step.

The arm is made up of two portions (2, 2' ) which are connected with respect to each other by means of a vertical joint (3) which allows the portion of the arm (2') to move along the y axis both with a rotation movement with respect to the joint (3) and with a translation of the whole arm (2') · A translation movement allows the arm (2, 2') to move along the x axis for the whole length of the working plane. .A second joint (3') is positioned, in the front portion of the arm (2') to which it is connected the cutting device (17) able to carry out a movement over an angle of 90° with respect to the central position.

Moreover, the portion of the arm (2') is able to carry out a free movement upwards while downwards it is provided a rubber step, which determines the "limit stop" obliged to avoid that the blade rests on the working plane.

In order to reduce the stroke of the arm (2), a mechanism releases two stop blocks in the box from both sides of the same box, which act as "limit stop" so that the tool holder does not risk to strike against the two vices. This mechanism can be activated by the operator both with the rotation of the arm (2) and directly from the box.

As it is shown in fig. 2, the portion of · the arm

(2') which is connected directly to the cutting means, is provided with two grips (18) each having a starting button on the outermost portion. Under said grips, the cutting device (17) comprises a motor box (19), to which it is connected a blade protecting box (20) with reduced dimensions with respect to the previous one. Said blade protecting box (20), as detailed in fig. 4, covers the blade

(21) leaving uncovered only its lower half and, therein, rested on the blade, there are also two "blade scrapers" (22) useful to avoid that working residues enter the same motor. Finally, in the blade protection box (20), above the "blade scarpers" there is a plastic blade protection (24) which - encloses ^ the -same - blade and provides- a vortex- effect which helps the working residues to be expelled outside. Moreover, the lower portion of the blade is protected also by a splash protection element in transparent plastic (25) with a spring movement upwards to protect the operator from possible residues coming from the cut. Said splash protection element acts also to help the piece to the worked on to be blocked exploiting the pressure of the operator downwards, but at the same time, since it can be lifted, it allows the blade of the cutting means to go on downwards. The blade of the cutting means is activated only thanks to the combination of three starting steps: starting button, the contemporaneous pressure on the two buttons arranged on the grips, and finally, by means of the movement downwards of the arm (2') along the y axis. This activation method protects optimally the operator allowing him to control the cutting means instead of the piece to be cut, as it occurs in the existing currently available tool machines.

A fixing means (7) of the piece to be cut as it is shown in fig. 5, is .made up of two vices (8, 8') which can slide along the whole length of the upper portion of the box, i.e. the working plane, by means of two guides (5), shaped as an inverted T, obtained in said plane. As it is shown in fig. 6, said vices (8, 8') are made up of two blocks (30) in steel shaped as an inverted T, which are introduced in the guides (5) . The blocks (30) are made up of a "solid" steel base (9), are hollow for their whole height and each has two slits (10). The slits provided in the steel block of the vices (8, 8') are specular with respect to each other. In addition, the vices (8, 8') are connected with respect to each other through a toothed plate (11) which slides on the working plane.

It is also provided therein another steel block, fig. 5, shaped as a "box" (12) having a vertical screwing and unscrewing system (13). This block is connected to a second "toothed" plate (14) which slides in the two above cited slits and blocks stably the meat on the working plane. The toothed plates (11, 14) are such that they leave among each other, in transversal direction, .. a space needed- for the passage of the blade (21) to guarantee a stronger hold of the same blocking.

The screwing system allows to adjust the height according to the dimension of the meat piece which has to be positioned by means of a spring mechanism which allows two "little pistons" (27) arranged on the blocks shaped as an inverted T to be blocked in the predetermined holes (15) arranged inside the profile shaped as a "box". Said blocks (30) shaped as an inverted T have a hole in which it is provided a spring knob.

The knobs (16) allow the position of the vices (8, 8') in their portion made up of the blocks (30) shaped as an inverted T to be adjusted along the working plane of the box and they to be fixed. Unscrewing the two knobs, it is also possible to wash and sanitize all the portions of the machine used .

An alternative fixing means (28) with box profile is described - in fig. 7. Said box profile has a fixed length equal to the total length of the box and allows the blade in position parallel to the sliding axis to move from an end to the other one of the box without obstacles, allowing a horizontal cut for the whole length of the piece. Said box profile has two struts (31, 32) parallel with respect to each other and having on a strut a double row of holes (33) and on the other one a notched shape (34). This allows the use of said vice both by right and left hand users.

Moreover, the system is provided with a laser pointer or the like which by projecting a light beam, highlights the cutting line showing, in advance, the contact area of the blade with the piece to be worked on.
