Abstract:
A boosting switch element (25) of this boosting device is provided between the ground and one end of a coil (21) having the other end connected to a power supply (15), and boosts the voltage of the one end of the coil (21) by means of a switching operation. A drive circuit (41) causes PWM operation of the boosting switch element (25). An overcurrent monitoring circuit (44) monitors the current flowing in the boosting switch element (25). A control unit (50) determines an abnormality on the basis of a notification from the overcurrent monitoring circuit (44), and implements a countermeasure. The overcurrent monitoring circuit (44) transmits a notification signal to the control unit (50) when a first condition is satisfied regarding the state of the current flowing in the boosting switch element (25). The control unit (50) determines an abnormality when a second condition is satisfied regarding the notification signal received from the overcurrent monitoring circuit (44), and implements a countermeasure.
