Abstract:
The present invention relates to a broadcast receiving device and an operation method therefor. A broadcast receiving device, according to one embodiment of the present invention, comprises: a network interface unit for communicating with an external server through a network; a broadcast receiving unit for receiving a broadcast signal; a storage unit for storing a database including information on at least one broadcasting provider; and a control unit. The control unit may: check, through the network interface unit, whether access to the network is possible; when the access to the network is possible, check, through the network interface unit, the status of an application including information on a broadcasting provider registered in an application server; determine, on the basis of a result of checking the status of the application, whether an update of at least a part of the information included in the database is necessary; when the update is necessary, receive, from the application server, an application in which information required for the update is included; update, on the basis of the received application, at least a part of the information included in the database; and receive, through the broadcast receiving unit, the broadcast signal on the basis of the information included in the database. Various other embodiments are also possible.
