Abstract:
A buckle (1) has a main body (10), a strap retaining bar (12) connected to the main body (10), two locking legs (13,14) formed as separate pieces from the main body (10) and pivotably connected to the main body (10); and a spring (30) disposed between the two locking legs (13,14). The spring (30) is attached to both of the locking legs (13,14), and exerts a force against the locking legs (13,14) when they are pressed inward toward each other. The spring (30) keeps the locking legs (13,14) in an outwardly tensioned position, but does not let the locking legs (13,14) flex outwardly in an unlimited manner, since the spring (30) is directly connected to the locking legs (13,14). The spring (30) allows the main body (10) and the locking legs (13,14) to be formed of an inflexible material, such as metal. The locking legs (13,14) are separate pieces from the main body (10) and are connected to the main body (10) via a pivot pin (15) or other hinged mechanism.
