A cable climbing robot, comprising a climbing front body (100) and a detection body (200). The climbing front body (100) comprises a front body rack (110), duct propellers (120), front body clasping units (130) and front body control modules (140), wherein the duct propellers (120) are mounted on the outer side of the front body rack (110) by surrounding the front body rack (110); each of the front body clasping units (130) comprises a front body clasping electric motor (131), a front body clasping transmission component (132) and a front body clasping member (133); the front body clasping electric motor (131) is fixedly mounted on the front body rack (110), and the front body clasping electric motor (131) drives the front body clasping member (133) by means of the front body clasping transmission component (132), such that the front body clasping member (133) clasps a cable (900); the front body control modules (140) are mounted on the front body rack (110), and the front body control modules (140) are respectively electrically connected to the duct propellers (120) and the clasping electric motors (131), and are used for controlling the operation of the duct propellers (120) and the front body clasping electric motors (131); and the detection body (200) is used for climbing together with the climbing front body (100) and for detecting the cable (900). The cable climbing robot is used for reducing the damage caused by the cable climbing robot to a surface of the cable, improving the detection efficiency, and widening the quality range of various carried apparatuses.
