Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a cable reel (200) includes a first annular wall (204-1), a second annular wall (204-2). The first annular wall (204-1) and the second annular wall (204-2) are hollow. A central member (202) configured to wound a cable thereon, and the central member (202) is hollow and configured between the first annular wall (204-1) and the second annular wall (204-2). The first annular wall (204-1), the second annular wall (204-2), and the central member (202) are detachably coupled with each other. The central member (202), the first annular walls (204-1), second annular walls (204-2) can be fastened together with the help of fasteners (206).

1. A cable reel (200) comprising:

A first annular wall (204-1); a second annular wall (204-2); and a central member (202) adapted to wound a cable thereon, wherein the first annular wall (204-1) and the second annular wall (204-2) are removable coupled at a first end and an opposite second end of the central member, and wherein the first annular wall (204-1), the second annular wall (204-1), and the central member (202) are hollow and are detachable from each other.

The cable reel (200) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first annular wall (204-1), the second annular wall (204-2), and the central member (202) are made from a first material selected from a group comprising polypropylene (PP), low-density polypropylene (LDPE), and high-density polypropylene (HDPE).

3. The cable reel (200) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first annular wall (204-1), the second annular wall (204-2), and the central member (202) are filed with a second material selected from a group comprising high-density polyurethane (PU), and expanded polystyrene (EPS).

4. The cable reel (200) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first annular wall (204-1) and the second annular wall (204-2) have a first radius.

5. The cable reel (200) as claimed in claim 4, wherein the central member (202) is cylindrical in shape having a second radius, wherein the second radius is less than the first radius.

6. The cable reel (200) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the central member (202) comprises a first set of engaging means.

The cable reel (200) as claimed in claim 6, wherein the first annular wall (204-1) and the second annular wall (204-2) comprises a second set of engaging means corresponding to the first set of engaging means, and wherein the first set of engaging means are adapted to interlock with the first set of engaging means using one or more fastening means (206).

8. The cable reel (200) as claimed in claim 7, wherein the one or more fastening means (206) comprise blot, screw, latch, protrusions, nut, latch, locks, clamp, and combination thereof.

9. The cable reel (200) as claimed in claim 6, wherein the first set of engaging means and the second set of engaging means comprise any or combination of hole, cut, pocket, and slot.

10. The cable reel (200) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first annular wall (204-1) and the second annular wall (204-2) are coupled to the central member by detachable engagement with channels extending about one or more flanges of the central member to retain the central member in its assembled form without bolting.

TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates to the field of cable reel, and more particularly the present disclosure relates to a cable reel that can be easily and quick assembled and de- assembled, and is light weight, and reusable.

BACKGROUND

[0003] Wire and cable for installation in residences and buildings typically comes on cable reels. The types of wire and cable so provided are numerous, and include 110V three- conductor wire, “Romex”, and many different kinds of low-voltage, multiconductor insulated communications cable, such as that used for setting up Ethernet networks, intercom systems, entertainment systems and the connection of security sensors and devices. A new building under construction will need many kinds of these cables, and several reels of cable will be used by an installer on-site.

[0004] One known technique is to provide coils of such cable in boxes, and to create a hole in a front or top panel of the (typically cardboard) box for pulling out a desired length of cable. This conventional method has a drawback in that the cable may kink inside of the box or otherwise resist being pulled out of the box to such an extent that a cable installer or technician finds that he or she is pulling the box across the floor. Oftentimes the installer has to install several different lengths of cable on a single run. To do this, the installer has had to identify which kinds of cable he or she needs, individually pull cable out of separate boxes and estimate as best as he or she can the amount of cable so pulled. These boxes of cable are heavy and it takes some effort to move them around. In complex jobs it is easy for one needed box of cable to become physically dissociated from one or more other boxes of cable that will supply lengths of different cable for the same run. A need therefore persists for more efficient methods and apparatus for dispensing cable.

[0005] Another technique is to pack them on a wooden reel. FIG. 1A & IB illustrates a conventional wooden reel 100. The wooden reel includes a cylindrical barrel placed horizontally and connected at each of both ends by a disc-shaped element whose diameter is larger compared to the diameter of the cylindrical barrel. The central member (cylindrical barrel) and the two disc-shaped elements are assembled coaxial to the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical barrel. Cables are wound around the cylindrical barrel. The two disc-shaped elements are further sized such that their diameters exceed the cumulative width of the cylindrical barrel and the wound cable, such that there is a minimum gap between the wound cables and the surface on which the spindle is resting. Further, the disc-shaped elements, due to their shape, facilitate movement of the spindle and cables by rolling.

[0006] However, these wooden cable spindle increases carbon footprint of spindles made from wood since they are made from wood and cannot be reused. The wooden spindle is not standardised and there is a huge variations in quality of wooden spindles is seen. The wooden spindle attracts moisturewhich reduces life of the wooden reel.Wooden spindles include metal reinforcements that are prone to corrosion which further reduces their life. The wooden reels are expensive as they are made from wood. Also, cutting trees is not good for our environment and ecosystem.

[0007] There is, therefore, a requirement to have a water proof cable reel that is light weight, cost effective, and is environment friendly.

OBJECTS OF THE PRESENT DISCLOSURE

[0008] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a cable spindle that can be reused.

[0009] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a cable spindle that can be easily and quick assembled and de-assembled when required.

[0010] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a cable spindle that is durable and cost effective.

SUMMARY

[0011] The present disclosure relates to the field of cable reel, and more particularly the present disclosure relates to a cable reel that can be easily and quick assembled and de- assembled, and is light weight, and reusable.

[0012] An aspect of the present disclosure relates to a cable reel includes a first annular wall, a second annular wall, and a central member.The central member adapted to wound a cable thereon, and the first annular wall and the second annular wall are removable coupled at a first end and an opposite second end of the central member.The first annular wall, the second annular wall, and the central member are hollow. [0013] In an Aspect, the first annular wall, the second annular wall, and the central member may be made of a first material selected from a group comprising polypropylene (PP), low-density polypropylene (LDPE), and high-density polypropylene (HDPE).

[0014] In an Aspect, the first annular wall, the second annular wall, and the central member may be filed with a second material selected from a group comprising high-density polyurethane (PU), and expanded polystyrene (EPS).

[0050] The proposed cable reel 200 can be assembled and disassembled when required, making storage and transportation of the cable reel 200 easy, and can be manufactured to any dimension as required. The proposed cable reel 200 is light weight, making transport easier and can be easily manufactured. The proposed cable reel 200 does not require additional reinforcements due to the high compression strength of the first material and the second material used. The proposed cable reel is made of material with high puncture resistance, thereby improving life of the reel 200. The proposed cable reel 200 can be made of material that is chemically inert, weather-proof and fire-proof, thereby improving life of the cable reel 200. The proposed cable reel 200 can be made of a material that is waterproof and, hence, the cable reel 200 does not attract moisture and can be reused. The proposed cable reel 200 has a smooth surface, and hence, does not damage the cables wound on it and can be manufactured at a lower cost. Also, the proposed cable reel is light weight due to the materials used to manufacture the cable reel.
