Abstract:
A process for producing carbon fibers of satisfactorily small fiber diameter. In particular, there is provided (1) a process for producing carbon fibers, comprising the step of jetting a solution containing a polymer material according to electrospinning to thereby form a deposit layer of fibrous matter consisting of the polymer material and the step of firing the deposit layer of fibrous matter consisting of the polymer material to thereby generate carbon fibers. Further, there is provided (2) a process for producing carbon fibers, comprising the step of jetting a solution containing a polymer material wherein carbon black is dispersed according to electrospinning to thereby form a deposit layer of fibrous matter consisting of the polymer material wherein carbon black is dispersed and the step of irradiating the deposit layer of fibrous matter with microwaves to thereby generate carbon fibers.
