Abstract:
In order to achieve a carbon fiber tape material that has favorable mold conformability and favorable matrix resin impregnability, that improves productivity when producing a reinforced fiber laminate via a fiber placement method, and that, upon being impregnated in resin and molded, is capable of providing a molded article having high mechanical strength, the present invention provides a carbon fiber tape material wherein a carbon fiber group, in which a plurality of carbon fiber bundles are aligned parallel to the fiber orientation direction, is integrated with a fabric, characterized in that the carbon fiber tape material satisfies the following (a) to (c): (a) the fabric is formed from one or more types of thermoplastic resin; (b) the carbon fiber tape material, excluding the fabric, has a mass per unit area of between 120 g/m2 and 400 g/m2; and (c) in at least one direction of the fabric, the fabric elongation percentage Ep(%) when a 80mN/50mm load is applied to the fabric is 5-100%. Ep=[(L1-L0)/L0]×100. Ep: Fabric elongation percentage (%). L0: Original fabric length (mm) between marks. L1: Fabric length (mm) when load has been applied.
