Abstract:

The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a carboxymethyl cellulose or a salt thereof for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery; a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery electrode composition containing same; a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery electrode; and a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, wherein the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery has excellent durability, and the battery capacity thereof is not significantly reduced even after repeated charge and discharge cycles. The carboxymethyl cellulose or a salt thereof is used as a binder for the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery electrode, has a degree of carboxymethyl substitution of 0.5-1.5, and exhibits a thermal change rate T of 45% or less, which is a difference (WB-WA) between thermogravimetric loss rate WA at a thermal decomposition starting point and thermogravimetric loss rate WB at a thermal decomposition end point as measured by a thermogravimetric/differential thermal analyzer.
