Abstract:
Provided are a highly active catalyst component for olefin polymerization, an olefin polymerization catalyst, and a process for producing an olefin (co)polymer using the catalyst. The catalyst component for olefin polymerization is characterized by comprising an ion-exchanging phyllosilicate which has the following property 1 and preferably further has the following property 2, etc. Property 1: In a pore distribution curve calculated by BJH analysis from an adsorption isotherm determined by a nitrogen adsorption method, the sum of the volumes of pores having a diameter of 2-10 nm is 60-100% of the total mesopore volume. Property 2: In X-ray diffractometry (XRD), there is a peak (m) in the 2θ range of 19.6-20.0°, and when the intensity therefor is expressed by peak intensity (M), then there is no peak (i) other than the peak (m) in the 2θ range of 15-25° or there is a peak (i) therein, the peak intensity (I) for the peak (i) and the peak intensity (M) satisfying the relationship 0<(I/M)≤1.6.
