Abstract:
The present invention provides a catalyst that is for purifying exhaust gas and that comprises a substrate and a catalyst layer provided on the substrate. The catalyst layer contains silver, and an AlTi-containing oxide containing elemental aluminum and elemental titanium. When the AlTi-containing oxide is observed using a transmission electron microscope (observation magnification: x2,000,000), and elemental mapping is performed by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, the elemental titanium is detected, and the ratio (SAl/SAl, Ti) of the area (SAl) of the elemental aluminum with respect to the total area (SAl, Ti) of the elemental aluminum and the elemental titanium is 0.85 or more.
