Abstract:
Provided are a cell detection device and cell detection method for detecting cell proliferation. This cell detection device 100 comprises a light emitting part 10, a culture container 40 in which a medium 70 containing cells 60 is housed, a first slit member 20 provided with a first slit 90 and a first light shielding part 95, and a light receiving part 30 receiving light passing successively through the medium 70 and the first slit 90 of the first slit member 20 in this order, said light being a portion of the light emitted from the light emitting part 10. The first slit member 20 is configured so that, when the cells 60 are disposed at a position overlapping the first slit 90, scattered light LS2 scattered by the cells 60 in the culture container 40 is shielded by the first light shielding part 95, said scattered light LS2 being a portion of the light emitted from the light emitting part 10.
