Abstract:
A wireless communication system (100) employs DNNs or other neural networks (120, 128, 134, 148) to provide for RAT-assisted positioning of UEs. A TX NN (120) at the BS (108) generates and provides for wireless transmission of a reference signal (138) to the UE (110). An RX NN (134) at the UE (110) receives the reference signal (138) and local UE sensor data (140) as input, and from this input generates a UE measurement and sensor report (144). A TX NN (148) at the UE (110) receives the report (144) as an input, and from this input generates an RF signal (154) representing the UE measurement and sensor report (144) for transmission to the BS (108). An RX NN (128) at the BS (108) receives the report (144) from the RF signal (154) as input, and from this input generates a position estimate (130) of the UE (110).
