Abstract:

This coated tool comprises a base and a coating layer positioned on the surface of the base. The coating layer has a Ti-containing intermediate layer and an Al2O3 layer. The Al2O3 layer is positioned contacting the intermediate layer at a position farther from the base than is the intermediate layer. The intermediate layer has a plurality of first projections that protrude toward the Al2O3 layer. At least one of the plurality of first projections is a composite projection having a second projection that protrudes in a direction intersecting the projection direction of the first projection. The proportion of composite projections among the plurality of first projections is 30% or less. This cutting tool comprises: a holder that extends from a first end to a second end, the holder having a pocket on the first-end side; and the abovementioned coated tool positioned in the pocket.
