Abstract:
A coil manufacturing method according to an aspect of the present invention comprises: a step for making a winding body by winding a coil wire in multiple layers; and a step for making a coil by performing press processing on the winding body by means of a mold surrounding the winding body and by compressing and deforming the winding body. The winding body made in the step for making a winding body has a rectangular outline at a predetermined cross-section, and a plurality of coil wire portions located at the predetermined cross-section among the coil wire are aligned and arranged along each side of the rectangular shape. The coil has a fan-shaped outline at the predetermined cross-section, and the coil wire portions are aligned and arranged along an arc of the fan shape and along a radial direction of the fan shape. In the step for making a coil, the cross-sectional shape of the coil wire portion at the predetermined cross-section is changed to a trapezoidal shape. The step for making a coil includes: a step for making the outline of the winding body at the predetermined cross-section into an intermediate shape between the rectangular shape and the fan shape; and a step for making the outline of the winding body at the predetermined cross-section from the intermediate shape to the fan shape.
