Embodiments of the present application relate to the field of communications, and discloses a communication method and apparatus for external devices, an electronic device, and a storage medium. In the present application, an internal IP address is allocated for an accessed external device; the external device is connected to a base station by means of an Ethernet interface of a destination device; an Ethernet interface corresponding to the allocated internal IP address is searched for in the correspondence between internal IP addresses and Ethernet interfaces; destination device information corresponding to the destination device to which the found Ethernet interface belongs is determined; model data that comprises the destination device information is searched for in the model data of each external device, and the correspondence between the found model data and the allocated internal IP address is established, the model data being used to identify an external device; and the external device identified by the model data is communicated with by means of an internal IP address corresponding to the model data.
