Abstract:
A communication method and apparatus. The method comprises: a first network device generates a paging message and sends same to a second network device, the paging message being used for paging a terminal device, and comprising first instruction information, and the first instruction information instructing a paging range to comprise a non-terrestrial network (NTN) cell and/or a terrestrial network (TN) cell. By adopting the technical solution, the network devices can determine a reasonable paging area according to type or capability information of the terminal device, so as to avoid sending the paging message in an area that is not supported by the terminal device, thereby effectively reducing paging signaling overhead.
