Abstract:
Provided are a production method for a composite material (10) and said composite material (10). The production method comprises a step in which: a carbon fiber bundle (12) including a plurality of connected carbon fibers (12a) is immersed in a carbon nanotube isolation-and-dispersion fluid including a plurality of isolated and dispersed carbon nanotubes (14a); an ultrasonic vibration having a frequency of more than 40 kHz and no more than 180 kHz is applied; and a structure including the plurality of carbon nanotubes (14a) is formed on the surface of each of the plurality of carbon fibers (12a). The structure is directly attached to the surface of each of the plurality of carbon fibers (12a) and a high-strength pre-preg exhibiting sufficient CNT-derived characteristics and having a network structure in which the carbon nanotubes (14a) are directly connected to each other can be obtained.
