Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition for alleviating, preventing or treating sarcopenia, containing, as an active ingredient, a whey protein hydrolysate, obtained by performing, on whey protein, primary hydrolysis using a Bacillus licheniformis-derived endo-protease and secondary hydrolysis using a Aspergillus oryzae-derived exo-protease, so that protein degradation is inhibited and protein synthesis is activated through a PI3K-Akt pathway, and thus muscle loss is reduced and muscle size and strength are increased.
