Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition comprising an extract of roasted citrus by-products as an active ingredient for prevention, amelioration, or treatment of sleep disorder or insomnia. The extract of the roasted citrus by-product according to the present invention is very effective in reducing the time taken to fall asleep, increasing sleep duration, and increasing non-REM sleep. In addition, consisting of ingredients derived from citrus by-products, which are natural products, the composition of the present invention does not cause side effects of synthetic drugs including pentobarbital and benzodiazepines, can ensure safety, and is free of side effects such as cognitive impairment, resistance, or dependence even after long-term use. Therefore, the composition comprising an extract of roasted citrus by-products as an active ingredient for prevention, amelioration, or treatment of sleep disorder or insomnia is very useful for preparing competitive food compositions and pharmaceutical compositions.
