Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition for the prevention, amelioration, or treatment of tuberculosis, including the suppression of latent tuberculosis. Even when a compound represented by chemical formula 1 of the present invention is used alone, macrophages infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis are unable to use oxygen well, and thus energy is not efficiently produced in the macrophages, and therefore, the composition can very effectively suppress the growth and proliferation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which is an intracellular parasitic bacterium, and the reactivation of latent tuberculosis. In addition, the composition regulates the metabolic response of host cells, not Mycobacterium tuberculosis itself, and thus, when co-administered with a tuberculosis therapeutic agent, can exhibit a synergistic effect in suppressing the growth and proliferation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and the reactivation of latent tuberculosis.
