Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a salt water thickener which uniformly (favorably) disperses fine cellulose fibers even in a liquid in which salt (electrolyte) is present. By forming a salt water thickener that comprises fine cellulose fibers and a water soluble polymer, the fine cellulose fibers can be uniformly dispersed even in a liquid containing salt. This salt water thickener exhibits high viscosity since the thickener disperses uniformly even in a liquid containing salt. Additionally, this salt water thickener can be used as an additive to a fluid. For example, the thickener can be used for treatment of a subterranean formation.
