Abstract:
The present invention provides: a composition which is capable of forming an optically anisotropic layer that exhibits excellent adhesion to a base material, while being suppressed in the occurrence of an optical defect; a method for producing an optical film; and an optical film. A composition according to the present invention is used for the purpose of forming an optically anisotropic layer on a base material by being applied onto the base material. This composition contains a liquid crystal compound that has a polymerizable group and a polymer that contains a repeating unit having a polymerizable group; the content of the repeating unit having a polymerizable group is 20% by mass or more relative to all repeating units in the polymer; the absolute value of the difference between the SP value of the polymer and the SP value of the base material is 4.0 MPa1/2 or less; and the content of the polymer is 10% by mass or less relative to the total mass of the liquid crystal compound.
