Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition for preventing, relieving and treating diseases caused by expression or over-activation of liver X receptor α (LXRα) or sterol response element binding protein-1 (SREBP-1), containing liquiritigenin, isoliquiritigenin or a Glycyrrhizae Radix processed fraction extract containing the same as an active ingredient. The composition of the present invention can be effectively used to prevent, relieve and treat diseases such as fatty liver, hypertriglyceridemia, hyperreninemia, renin-induced hypertension, aldosteronism, adrenoleukodystrophy, glomerulosclerosis, proteinuria, renal failure, and the like. In addition, the composition of the present invention can be used to prevent and treat obesity.
