Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition for the treatment and prevention of inflammatory diseases, containing a complex extract of beet, red onion, and purple-fleshed sweet potato, as an active ingredient. The composition for the treatment and prevention of inflammatory diseases according to the present invention has no cytotoxicity, effectively suppresses nitric oxide (NO)-mediated inflammatory responses, suppresses the production of an IL-6 protein, and effectively suppresses iNOS and COX-2 genes, which are representative inflammation-related genes, and thus has excellent anti-inflammatory effects. Therefore, the composition can be effectively used in the fields of cosmetics, foods, and quasi-drugs to treat and prevent inflammatory diseases. In addition, the composition of the present invention is not only very safe for the human body, but also has excellent stability.
