Abstract:
The present invention makes it possible to establish the service life of an object in an efficient manner. The established service life of the object is used to enhance the usefulness of memory management in a computer system. This computer has a memory region in which an object generated by executing a program is placed, and also has a controller for executing the program and releasing the memory region. The controller updates time information when prompted by a garbage collection, an object capacity in memory, or another trigger; acquires, when an object is generated, information relating to a program that generates the object and the time information corresponding to the time at which the object is generated; associates and records the information in a memory device; detects, from among objects stored in the memory region, an object that is not required for subsequent program execution; obtains the time information corresponding to the time of detection; and operates so that the difference between the time information corresponding to the time of generation and the time information corresponding to the time of detection is associated with the information relating to the program and is recorded in the memory device.
