Abstract:
A vehicle drive device having a differential mechanism and an electric motor provided at the differential device, where the drive device can be reduced in size and improve fuel consumption and where a control device can suppress shifting shock. Because the drive device has a switching clutch (C0) or a switching brake (B0), a transmission mechanism (10) can be switched between a stepless transmission state and a stepped transmission state, and as a result, the drive device has advantages of both a fuel consumption improvement effect by a transmission where a transmission ratio is electrically changed and high transmission efficiency of a gear-type transmission device where power is mechanically transmitted. Further, in shifting of an automatic transmission section (20), the method of shifting the transmission mechanism (10) is changed by a transmission control means (82) depending on a stepless transmission state of a differential section (11) in which state engine speed NE can be varied by a differential effect independent of the rotation speed of a transmission member (18) and on a non-stepless transmission state where the engine speed NE is less likely to be varied than in the stepless transmission state, and as a result, occurrence of shifting shock is suppressed.
