Abstract:
A control method for a vehicle comprising a drive source for traveling, an automatic transmission connected to the drive source and having a linking element for forward motion, and a negative pressure booster for assisting the driver's brake pedal pressure wherein when a predefined condition for stopping the drive source is satisfied during travel, sailing stop control is executed to stop the drive source and release the linking element for forward motion. Furthermore, while the sailing stop control is being executed, a brake device that generates braking force without the use of the negative pressure booster or manipulation by the driver is operated, thereby preventing any acceleration that is contrary to the driver's intention.
