A control method and control system for a lifting mechanism of a hanging assembly line. The control method comprises: receive an instruction of starting a lifting mechanism (3010); determine whether a departure branch rail is filled; if the departure branch rail is filled, the lifting mechanism (3010) is not started; if the departure branch rail is not filled, the lifting mechanism (3010) is started to lift a material bearing device to the departure branch rail and then the lifting mechanism (3010) is stopped; and after delaying a certain time, the lifting mechanism (3010) is started again to convey the material bearing device at an inlet of the lifting mechanism (3010) to a workstation, and in a time period when the lifting mechanism (3010) is stopped, a release mechanism (309) on the departure branch rail releases one material bearing device to the material bearing device at the inlet of the lifting mechanism (3010). The method above can solve the problems that a chain is deformed as a large material stays in a lifting section of the material bearing device and the like.
