Abstract:
Proposed is a converter steel making method, whereby, in a refining treatment of a cold iron source and molten iron contained in a converter furnace-type container, it becomes possible to increase the amount of the cold iron source to be used while preventing the cold iron source from remaining unmelted and prevent the deterioration in productivity. The converter steel making method comprises performing a dephosphorization treatment of molten iron to produce dephosphorized molten iron and subjecting the dephosphorized molten iron to a decarbonation treatment to produce a molten steel, in which a first cold iron source in an amount satisfying formula (1) is charged at once into a first converter furnace-type container before the charging of undephosphorized molten iron into the first converter furnace-type container, then the undephosphorized molten iron is charged to perform a dephosphorization treatment, then dephosphorized molten iron thus produced is discharged into a molten iron-receiving container and is retained in the molten iron-receiving container, then a second cold iron source is charged at once into the first converter furnace-type container in which the dephosphorization treatment has been carried out or a second converter furnace-type container which is different from the first converter furnace-type container, and then the dephosphorized molten iron retained in the molten iron-receiving container is charged to perform a decarbonation treatment. (1): %Ws0 ≤ 0.1186T-134 (%Ws0≥0) In the formula, %Ws0: the content ratio (%) of the first cold iron source to the total amount of the first cold iron source and the undephosphorized molten iron charged, T: the temperature of the undephosphorized molten iron (°C).
