This International Application claims priority from a complete patent application filed in India having Patent Application No. 201941015064, filed on April 15, 2019 and titled“DENTAL RECLINER CHAIR WITH ARM REST”

FIELD OF INVENTION

Embodiments of a present disclosure relates to a special purpose chair, and more particularly to a portable dental recliner chair.

BACKGROUND

A dental recliner chair refers to a particular chair used by a dentist or a dental hygienist at a dental clinic. A standard dental recliner chair in a clinic has 4 distinct components a) A large dental recliner chair with a pneumatically controlled recliner system, b) dental recliner chair compressor unit which provides pneumatic power for the recliner and air pressure for the dentists hand pieces that are used for treatment, c) an integrated work table with pneumatic pipes attached to dental hand pieces and d) a small faucet and a spit-sink, which the patient may use for rinsing, as well as one or more suction hoses, and a compressed air/irrigation water nozzle for blowing or washing debris clear of the work area in the patient's mouth. All the features are integrated together as a whole with the dental recliner chair. During check-up or operation, a patient should be able to sit on a dental recliner chair that uses a recliner mechanism to shift the patient to a 160-degrees for the dentist to examine and conduct dental treatment. Hence, the chair designed should be specific according to the needs of dentistry.

In conventional approach, a chair is permanently fixed in the dental office. The chair may be mechanically or pneumatically fixed in the dental room for usage. The size of the dental recliner chair is huge and weights about 120Kgs. So, it is impossible to move it around or carry it to any particular place.

In India and the developing countries 90% of the population do not have access to dental care. The problem is acute in smaller towns and rural villages. The time taken to visit a dentist and get back is about 2 hours. So most people tend to avoid visiting a dentist. According to World Health Organisation (WHO) a child must visit a dentist once in 6 months and an adult once a year. Hence, there is a need for an improved portable dental recliner chair with arm rest to make dental care affordable and accessible to all.

The dental recliner chair also includes a slider locking mechanism, which is mechanically coupled to the seat supporting frame and the leg supporting frame for mechanical adjustment. FIG. 1 is a diagrammatic representation of an embodiment representing a portable dental recliner chair with arm rest (10) in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. As used herein, the term“portable” means to be easily carried or moved, especially because being of a lighter and smaller version than usual. In one embodiment, the dental recliner chair is referred to the chair on which a patient sits comfortably during check-up or operations.

In one embodiment, the dental recliner chair (30) is foldable and easily moved in a carry bag. In such embodiment the dental recliner chair (30) is of recliner nature and weighs only in the range of 12 kilograms. In another embodiment, the term“recliner” means a chair with a reclining back, especially one with an integral footrest.

The portable dental recliner chair (10) includes a folding frame (60). The folding frame comprises a U-shaped rear leg frame (70) pivot coupled to a U-shaped front leg frame (80). As used herein, the term“frame” refers to a rigid structure that surrounds the whole structure of chair.

Here, in one embodiment, the U-shaped rear leg frame (70) and the U-shaped front leg frame (80) is composed of plastic material. In such embodiment, the frames join together at both sides to form a pivot joining. As used herein, the term“folding frame” refers to a frame which foldable in particular direction, to enable easy storage and movement.

The portable dental recliner chair (10) also includes two side arms (90). The two side arms (90) are configured to slide up and slide down over a pivot point of the U-shaped rear leg frame (70) and the U-shaped front leg frame (80) respectively. In one such embodiment, the two side arms (90) are permanently placed over the pivoted joints of the U-shaped rear leg frame (70) and the U-shaped front leg frame (80). In another such embodiment, the two side arms (90) may exhibit vertical up and down direction movement. As used herein, the“side arms” refer to portion of chair that enables resting of arms.
