Abstract:
Provided is a design method for a hyperboloid collimating lens for vehicle lamps, capable of solving the cumbersome and complicated problems of existing lens design methods. The method comprises the following steps: step 1, establishing a two-dimensional plane coordinate system by using a light source as the origin, including the establishment of an incident light, an exiting light and normal vectors; step 2, establishing an exiting vector equation of an exiting light formed after an incident light emitted by the light source passes through a spherical surface (A); and step 3, combining the fact that the exiting light from an external free-form surface (B) is a parallel beam, solving a normal vector of point (Bi-1, Bi) on the external free-form surface (B) using the law of refraction, using the normal vector to solve a tangential equation passing through the point (Bi-1, Bi), and solving an intersection of the tangential equation passing the point (Bi-1, Bi) and an equation of the exiting light from the spherical surface (A) to obtain coordinates of the point (Bi-1, Bi) on the external free-form surface (B). The front and rear surfaces (A, B) of the lens are designed as hyperboloids to constrain the exiting direction of light emitted from a light source, so that a beam is accurate and controllable, collimating effect is good, and the uniformity of spots on a target surface is high.
