A device (1) for detecting abnormalities when transferring an egg pack comprises: a transfer device (3); an imaging device (4); and a control device (20). The transfer device (3) applies a vacuum force to the top surface of a lid of the egg pack to pick up and transfer the egg pack and then places the egg pack at a predetermined position of a container for transport. The imaging device (4) images a region including the predetermined position after the egg pack has been placed. The control device (20) detects abnormalities in the region on the basis of the captured image. The control device (20) instructs, on the basis of the detection result, the transfer device (3) to carry out a subsequent operation.
