Title:
DEVICE FOR DRIVING A SEWING MACHINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1985/003958
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A device for driving a sewing machine in which a brushless electric motor is used to drive the sewing machine, the brushless motor having a rotor made up of permanent magnets, and permitting the current-carrying phase of the stator winding to be changed depending upon the position of the rotor. A speed instruction signal generated by a speed instructor (32) depending upon the displacement quantity of a pedal (31) is compared with a speed detect signal produced by a speed detector (44), to control the revolving speed of a motor (42). Further, the motor (42) is controlled in the reverse direction by a stop instruction signal generated by a position instructor (33) responsive to the operation of the pedal (31) and by a needle position detect signal produced by a needle position detector (46) in order to stop the stiching needle at a predetermined position.
