Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a communication technique that combines IoT technology with a 5G communication system for supporting higher data transmission rates beyond a 4G system, and a system for same. The present disclosure can be applied to intelligent services (for example, smart homes, smart buildings, smart cities, smart or connected cars, health care, digital education, retail business, security and safety related services, etc.) on the basis of 5G communication technology and IoT related technology. According to various embodiments of the present disclosure, terminals in a wireless communication system include at least one transceiver and at least one processor coupled to the at least one transceiver, wherein the at least one processor is configured to receive system information from a cell of a base station, determine, on the basis of the system information, whether the cell supports new radio (NR)-lite, and perform a random access procedure on the cell when the cell supports the NR-lite. Terminals which perform the NR lite may be set so that at least one among subcarrier spacing (SCS), transport block (TB) size, and a bandwidth part (BWP) is limited to a designated value compared to terminals which do not perform the NR lite.
