Description:
devic ior music-stand This invention relates to a device for facilitating the handling of sheets of music on a a conventioned music-stand for musicians. which is usually foldable.

Conventional handling of sheets of music, which as a rule consist of a great number of loose sheets, laid on the music-stand, means that the musician in guestion takes the loose sheet and turns the same over at the same time as it is taken from the one side of the music- stand to its other side, the sheets of music being laid loosely on the music-stand. In practice this has appeared to lead to great problems for the musician. because a slightest push against the music-stand or a slightest puff of wind towards the sheets of music may result in that these ones fall don from the music-stand with the consequences this may have for the music performance.

The object of this invention is to remove the mentioned problems. and this has been achieved by a device of the kind mentioned by way of introduction. which is characterized in that it comprises an openable so called ring binder mechanism. into which the sheets of music are intended to be fastened. and that the device is designed in that way that it can be detachably applied on the music-stand. That means firstly that the device according to the invention can be utilized for conventional. foldable music-stands. and secondly that the sheets of music are held in a secure way on the music-stand. even when transferring the sheets of music from the one side of the music-stand to its other side.

A preferred embodiment of the invention shall hereafter be described more closely with reference to the accompanying drawings. where Fig. 1 shows a plan view of the device according to the invention. Fig. 2 shows a longitudinal cross-section through the device according to Fig. 1 taken along the line II-II and seen in the direction of the arrows. and Fig.

3 shows a cross-section through the device according to Fig. 2, taken along the line III-III and seen in the direction of the arrows.

The new device comprises a conventional ring binder mechanism 1 having four openable means 2-5. each of which having two co-operating parts 6, 7, which can be opened against the action of a spring means. and which can be closed by the action of the mentioned spring means, the parts in closed position forming a closed circle. When inserting sheets of music into the ring binder mechanism, these ones are kept in place in a secure way at the same time as the sheets of music simply and securely can be turned over without risk of blowing way.

The four openable means 2-5 are fastened to a conventional. elongated base portion 8. and on the underside of this base portion is fastened another elongated means 9, which is arranged in parallel in relation to the base portion 8 and has its topside in contact with the

underside of the base portion 8. The means 9 has a transverse section formed like a lying "U", the two shanks 10, 11 of which have an essentially horizontal extension when positioning the device according to Fig. 1 on an essentially horizontal bed. Due to this design, the device 1 with the means 9 can simply be fastened on one of the metal lists of the music-stand. which list is indicated be the numeral 12 in Fig. 3. For holding the device according to the invention on the music-stand there is arranged a clamping screw 13, which can be screwed through the lower shank 11 of the means 9 for being in screwing contact with the underside of the metal list 12.

When using the device according to the invention the following happens: The musician folds up the conventional music-stand, folded down, whereafter the new device with its clamping socket 9, 13 is applied onto one of the metal strips of the music- stand. the device being retained on on the metal list 12 by the clamping screw 13.

Due to the detachable design of the device according to the invention this one can be simply loosened from the music-stand and together with the music-stand, folded down, simply and smoothly be taken to and from the playing place.

The invention is of course not limited to the shown and described embodiment but can be modified within the scope of the following claims. Thus, the expression "ring binder mechanism" comprises also means, which in closed position has another design than circle- round, for instance a design which is like a square, because different countries have different standards regarding the design of the "ring binder mechanism". Furthermore, the number of means of the mentioned mechanism needs not to be four as in the described embodiment but this number can be chosen to at least two or more.

Of course, it would also be possible to modify the clamping socket mentioned as holding means so that it can suit another type of music-stand.
