Abstract:
[Problem] In fishing of fish such as tuna, feeding damage by sharks, etc., occurs very frequently and presents a problem. In recreational fishing, feeding damage by sharks, etc., can reduce enjoyment and lower the value of recreational fishing. Human casualties due to sharks, etc., during marine leisure such as surfing are also serious, and there have been demands for countermeasures. [Solution] A device for repelling aquatic organisms that cause human casualties or feeding damage such as sharks, wherein the device comprises: a tubular member made of a viscoelastic material; a power supply device that is built into or provided to a part of the tubular member; electrodes provided to a part or all of the outer surface of the tubular member; a string-form member provided with a counter electrode, the string-form member extending from the tubular member; a switch for switching on/off the conduction of electricity from the power supply device for applying a voltage between the electrodes; and a joint member for connecting the tubular member in a ring shape, the device being placed in water and a voltage being applied between the electrodes to thereby repel aquatic organisms that cause human casualties or feeding damage such as sharks. A method for using the device.
