Abstract:
The present invention is a separating device that separates a liquid-absorbent fiber from a material having a contaminant and the liquid-absorbent fiber, which pertains to an absorbent article. The present invention has: a case; an introduction opening through which the material is introduced into the case while riding on a flow of air; a rotating member that is housed in the case and that agitates and opens the material; and a discharge opening that discharges the liquid-absorbent fiber, which is of the material opened by the rotating member, from the interior of the case while riding on a flow of air. The rotating member rotates around a central axis resulting from setting the axial direction along a predetermined direction oriented from the introduction opening to the discharge opening, and, at a plurality of positions along the axial direction, has protruding sections that protrude outwards in a direction intersecting the central axis. A regulating member that regulates the movement of material from the introduction opening to the discharge opening is provided to a predetermined position between the introduction opening and the discharge opening within the case.
