Title:
DEVICE FOR TREATMENT WITH A SIGNAL BASED ON OPTICAL STORAGE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/088568
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Electro-medical device for private and/or professional use able to give the patient signals of a physical nature such as: magnetic fields, electrical impulses, mechanical vibrations (also including shock waves) and luminous signals for which the programs are recorded on optical support such as CD or DVD's. There are two advantages regarding the present invention: i) when the patient has to under-go a particular therapy he/she chooses a certain transducer that connects to the device and the CD or DVD that corresponds to it without having to do anything else,- ii) beside the CD or DVD player given with the device, it is possible to create new personalized ones or to use new programs as soon as they are available in specialized reviews.

2) CLAIMS

1° It is an electro-medical device using electrical signals coming from an optical digital CD or DVD reader.

Description:

DESCRIPTION

1) TITLE OF INVENTION

Device for treatment with a signal based on optical storage

2) TECHNICAL FIELD

Electro-medical device for treatment based on a low frequency signal of varying form and spectrum at low frequency values starting from 0,1 and ranging to 100.000,0 Hz

3) BACKGROUND ART

To date, electro-medical devices which require a source of electrical signals for their functioning , had to have these signals generated by an oscillator, specifically projected or recorded in digital format on solid state components ( like eprom or similar).

4) DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION

This invention is an electro-medical device coupled with a CD or DVD player , and a series of CD's or DVD's. This device is activated by a particular program of low frequency signals which have been pre-recorded. The novelty of this invention lies in the use of an optical reader, for example a CD or DVD player, which reads previously recorded signals.

5) Having read the CD or DVD, this device processes the analogue signal coming from the CD or DVD player and sends it to the transducer for the treatment of the patient. It is thus possible to provide this device with an endless variety of signals . Any type of signal can be created, recorded on the optical support and then used for treatment in a simple and economic therapeutic application (treatment).

6) For example, the patient receives from the practitioner his own CD containing a personalized treatment, he inserts it into the device, applies the electrodes, and the treatment begins and ends at a particular time based on the decision of the practitioner.

7) BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING

A first prototype of this invention is a low frequency magneto-therapy device. The diagram of this device is shown in fig. 1 and consists of the following parts :

a) (1 Player) A compact disc reader of the kind that also plays musical CD's; b) (2 Disc) A signal comes from the player, having been pre-recorded in digital format on the disc. c) (3 Preamplifier) Having been converted from digital to analogue, the signal is transmitted to a pre-amplifier, d) (4 Control Circuit) connected to a control circuit e) (5 Power Circuit) and to the final power circuit. f) (6 Transducer for treatment) At this point the signal contains the characteristics of form , tension, current, and program ( by program we mean the temporal succession of specific impulses ) which are required for the supply of energy to one or more copper reels. g) (7 Patient) which generate the magnetic fields used on the patient during the magneto-therapy session. h) (8 Power Supply) Circuit-8- supplies energy to the whole system.

8) A second prototype is an electro- stimulator by TENS: this is a stimulator which aims to anaesthetize locally by means of two or more electrodes applied to the skin or to the mucous membrane of the patient and supplied with a particular signal. The diagram of the device is identical to the one already described in figure 1 with the exception of the transducer -7-that is represented this time with electrodes applicable directly to the skin or mucous membrane. With this device too, a patient can have a personalized program simply digitally mastered on a CD containing all the necessary information for the therapeutic application (treatment).

9) BEST MODE FOR CARRYNG OUT THE INVENTION

For the present invention it is possible to count on the following components: a standard CD or DVD player like the ones found on personal computers , an audio preamplifier with an out going signal that is able to guide a mos-fet previously filtered that constitutes the final stage of power, a control system that can be created using a decoder DTMF

10) Connected to one of the two channels of a stereo CD or DVD player one finds one or more copper reels of 20 cm of diameter , if one wishes to do the magneto therapy , developing the functions of the magnetic transducer , a power supply with the right characteristics for electro-medical use , and, at last a series of CD and DVD's that contain the principal therapeutical programs ie muscular distension after intense physical training: to attenuate inflammation in certain parts of the body ecc....

11) INDUSTRIAL APPLICABILITY

The production of this device does not represent a major difficulty besides those connected to the electro-medical nature of the product .
