The present invention relates to the technical field of laundry treatment, and aims to solve a problem in the prior art in which when a laundry treatment apparatus uses a direct drive motor, a stress concentration region of a housing of the direct drive motor is likely to crack due to wear and affects normal operation of the laundry treatment apparatus. Provided are a direct drive motor for a laundry treatment apparatus and a laundry treatment apparatus. The direct drive motor comprises a motor housing and a reinforcement member provided at the motor housing. The reinforcement member is used to increase strength of the motor housing. Preferably, the reinforcement member is connected to the motor housing by welding. The above arrangement increases the strength of a motor housing of a direct drive motor used in a laundry treatment apparatus, such that when the laundry treatment apparatus is operating, a stress concentration region of the motor housing does not crack due to wear, thereby extending the service life of the direct drive motor, and ensuring normal operation of the laundry treatment apparatus.
