A direct drive motor for a laundry treatment apparatus, and a laundry treatment apparatus. The laundry treatment apparatus comprises a laundry treatment drum (2). The direct drive motor comprises a front housing (6), a rear housing (7), a stator (4), a rotor (3) and a drive shaft (5). The front housing (6) and the rear housing (7) are combined to form a motor housing of the direct drive motor. The stator (4) and the rotor (3) are provided inside the motor housing. The rotor (3) is connected to the laundry treatment drum (2) by means of the drive shaft (5). Support bearings (8, 9) are provided between the drive shaft (5) and at least one of the front housing (6) and the rear housing (7). In the laundry treatment apparatus, the support bearings (8, 9) are supported by the motor housing in place of a bearing base, thereby eliminating the need for a bearing base. Accordingly, the laundry treatment apparatus has an increased capacity and can perform treatment on more laundry items, thereby improving user experience.
