Disclosed is a display control device (2) in which a displayed/non-displayed image determination unit (70) determines an image displayed on a display device (400) as a displayed image or a non-displayed image on the basis of image information pertaining to the images displayed on the display device (400) and viewing mode information indicating the desired image viewing mode of a viewer. Additionally, a shutter movement control unit (80) closes the right-eye shutter and the left-eye shutter of liquid crystal shutters (500) when an image determined as a non-display image, which is unnecessary in the viewing mode and not displayed to the viewer, is displayed on the display device (400). Accordingly, the display control device (2) enables image viewing in the mode appropriate for each viewer, since the right-eye shutter and the left-eye shutter of the liquid crystal shutters (500) are closed when a non-displayed image is displayed on the display device (400).
