Abstract:
A display device according to one embodiment of the present invention is provided with a first substrate, a second substrate opposing the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer positioned between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first substrate has a first common electrode, a pixel electrode, scanning lines, and signal lines. The scanning lines are formed extending in a first direction, and the signal lines are formed extending in a second direction. A first electrode has a shaft part extending in the second direction, and a first branch part and a second branch part extending in the first direction from the shaft part, and also has a first opening part surrounded by a pair of the scanning lines and a pair of the signal lines, and a second opening part surrounded by a pair of the scanning lines and a pair of the signal lines and provided in the second direction such that there is a gap with respect to the first opening part. The first branch part overlaps the pixel electrode and the first opening part, and the second branch part overlaps the scanning lines between the first opening part and the second opening part.
