The purpose of the present embodiment is to provide a display device with which brightness uniformity can be improved.　According to the present invention, a display device comprises: a first transparent substrate; a second transparent substrate; a liquid crystal layer including a streaky polymer and liquid crystal molecules; a third transparent substrate (30) having a first side surface (301), a second side surface (302) on the opposite side to the first side surface; and an inner surface (30A) on the side facing the first transparent substrate or the second transparent substrate; a transparent layer (40) disposed on the inner surface and having a lower refractive index than the refractive index of the third transparent substrate; and a light emitting element (LD) disposed along the first side surface. The transparent layer comprises a belt-shaped part (41) extending from the first side surface toward the second side surface, and a frame-shaped part (42) formed in a frame shape surrounding the belt-shaped part, and the belt-shaped part is separate from the frame-shaped part, and is shaped such that a width (W1) on the first side surface side is larger than a width (W2) on the second side surface side.
