Provided are a display panel and a manufacturing method thereof, the display panel includes a display substrate (100) and an encapsulation layer (200) for encapsulating the display substrate (100), wherein, the display substrate (100) includes a base substrate (110) and a pixel layer (120) located on the base substrate (110), the pixel layer (120) includes a plurality of display elements (122) spaced apart from each other by spacers, the encapsulation layer (200) includes a first encapsulation layer (210), the first encapsulation layer (210) includes a light-shielding and reflective portion (211) and a light-transmitting portion (212), the first encapsulation layer (210) is arranged on the side of the pixel layer (120) away from the base substrate (110), the orthographic projection of the spacer between the display elements (122) on the base substrate (110) covers the orthographic projection of the light-shielding and reflective portion (211) on the base substrate (110), and the orthographic projection of the light-transmitting portion (212) on the base substrate (110) covers the orthographic projection of the display element (122) on the base substrate (110).
