Abstract:
A diversity receiver apparatus wherein the power consumption can be reduced in the most effective manner possible, while some reception quality being maintained, without determining the field intensity and the fading pitch. Determining whether or not to perform a diversity reception is done based on a determination of a reception quality. During a diversity reception, a diversity gain is controlled such that the diversity gain is reduced by a given value. Thereafter, if the reception quality is equal to or greater than a predetermined value, then the reception operation of a predetermined branch or a branch exhibiting a low reception quality is stopped, and further a power supply to the whole or a part of the circuit of the branch the reception operation of which is stopped is interrupted. In this way, the power consumption can be reduced in the most effective manner possible, while some reception quality being maintained.
