Abstract:

This door latch device (100) for a vehicle is provided with: a pawl (120) which can engage with a latch (110) configured so as to rotate in a door closing direction by engaging with a striker (20); and a pawl return spring (130) which elastically presses the pawl (120) toward the engagement position where the pawl (120) and the latch (110) engage with each other. The pawl return spring (130) is provided with: a coiled spring section (131) formed in a coil shape and having a coil center located at a position at a distance from the rotation center of the pawl (120); and an extension arm (132) which extends from one end (131a) of the coiled spring section (131) along the contact receiving surface (121) of the pawl (121). The extension arm (132) is configured so as to come into contact with the shear surface (second region))(121b) of the contact receiving surface (121) of the pawl (120), the shear surface (second region))(121b) being located off the fracture surface (first region)(121a) of the contact receiving surface (121) and having relatively high surface roughness.
