Abstract:
A drive mechanism for a spindle plate in a braiding machine, comprising a spindle plate (1) provided with a rotating shaft (2) having oblique grooves (3-1) inclined relative to its axis and parallel grooves (3-2) parallel to the axis and communicating with the oblique grooves. The spindle plate (1) is rotated and/or stopped by converting an axial displacement of a fitting body (28), which comprises a holder (5) rotatably holding steel balls (4) adapted to roll or slide along the grooves (3-1, 3-2), and a tubular-shaped holding member (6) adapted to move integrally with the holder (5), into an intermittent rotating movement of the rotating shaft (2). Since clutches, large-sized gears, timing belts and the like are eliminated to reduce shocks on the spindle plate (1) and the like, rattling and noises are suppressed, and the spindle plate (1) can be quickly started or stopped.
